Men’s Soccer Picks Up Conference Win

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's soccer team defeated Suffolk University Wednesday afternoon in conference play, 2-1.

The first goal for the Pride came off of the foot of Ken Niyonzima (Dracut, Mass.), who was on the receiving end of a pass from Sal Madera (Rocky Hill, Conn.). Niyonzima was able to put the ball into the back of the net to get the offense for the Pride going.

On a rush from Suffolk, the Rams were able to draw a penalty in the box and were awarded a penalty kick.  The penalty was taken by Gabriel Perez, who was able to get the ball past Jesse Bonilla (Ramona, Calif.) for the lone Ram goal of the day, making the score 1-1.

The game-winning goal came off of a set play for the Pride where Diego Roman (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) was able to get the ball past the goalkeeper, putting the Pride up for good. Bonilla helped maintain that advantage by making six saves.

The Pride will take part in Regis Fest festivities, taking on Albertus Magnus Saturday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m.
