REGIS PLAYS TO 2-2 DRAW WITH AMC

Paxton, Mass. – Sophomore Renato Rosas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) scored a goal and added an assist to help lead Regis College to a 2-2 draw with Anna Maria College in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Gregory Cory (Beacon, NY) netted his first collegiate goal to put Anna Maria up 1-0 when he converted a penalty kick after the Pride had committed a foul inside the box. The first year defenseman calmly delivered a strike top shelf, right side past Regis netminder Stefan Todorovic (Los Angeles, Calif.) at 15:09 of the first period.

Regis (1-5-1) knotted the score at one-all just under ten minutes later. Sophomore Kenny Charon (West Warwick, R.I.) powered down the right wing and found Rosas in the middle with a well placed ball, and the midfielder found the back of the cage low to the right side.

Anna Maria would take the lead again in the 39th minute as senior Justin Hyland (Leicester, Mass.) converted a pass from Cory for his fifth marker of the season.

With just over ten minutes to play in regulation, Regis once again evened the score. Rosas delivered a ball off a free kick to freshman Prince Mukala (Malden, Mass.), who headed it top shelf past AMC goaltender Andrew Dahl (Marlton, N.J.).

The teams would go on to play two scoreless overtimes for the 2-2 final.

Regis held the edge in shots (15-11) and corner kicks (11-4) through the 110 minutes of play. Todorovic posted three saves on the afternoon while Dahl had five in the double overtime tie.

Regis will head to Elms College on Saturday for their NECC opening match, which is slated for a 1:30 p.m. start.
