TAVARES COLLECTS SECOND NECC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

WESTON, Mass. – Senior forward and men's soccer standout Steve Tavares (Bellingham, Mass.) has been named the Player of the Week for the New England Collegiate Conference. This marks the second time this season that Tavares has been bestowed the honor by the conference.

Tavares registered five points in a week that saw the Pride defeat both Anna Maria and Newbury, by scores of 5-0 and 1-0, respectively. The forward assisted on a Kenny Charron (West Warwick, R.I.) goal and later scored a goal of his own in the victory over Anna Maria. Tavares scored the game-winning goal against Newbury on Saturday afternoon, handing the Nighthawks their first loss in conference play.

With twelve goals scored in the season, Tavares is currently tied for tenth most goals scored in the country for all of Division III men's soccer.

The Pride return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 10 as the team travels to Daniel Webster for a 4:00 p.m. conference matchup with the Eagles.
