TWO LATE GOALS LIFT DWC OVER PRIDE

WESTON, Mass. – Daniel Webster College scored two goals over the final 21 minutes of action to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit and defeat Regis College, 2-1, on Wednesday night in New England Collegiate Conference men's soccer action.

The Pride fall to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in the NECC, while Daniel Webster improves to 3-8-2 and 2-2 in league play. The two squads move into a tie for fifth in the standings with matching conference records.

The Pride's Ricardo Arguetta (Los Angeles, Calif.) gave Regis a 1-0 lead late in the first half on an unassisted goal. Arguetta's tally stood up as the lone goal of the period as Regis held a 5-3 edge in shots for the period and attempted the half's lone corner kick.

Just over 24 minutes into the second half, DWC's Max Howe (Concord, N.H.) assisted on Alex Towne's (Northfield, Mass.) first goal of the season to knot the game at one goal apiece. With 14:57 remaining in the game, the Eagles' Erick Bourdeau (Alton Bay, N.H.) scored off a pass from Joey Morgan (Windham, N.H.) to put Daniel Webster on top for good at 2-1.

The Pride mounted one last charge as Steve Tavares (Bellingham, Mass.) rattled a shot off the crossbar just over two minutes later, and Angel Aguilar (Silver Spring, Md.) and Arguetta both missed shots. Tavares had a streak of six games in-a-row with goals scored streak snapped.

Regis' Stefan Todorovic (Los Angeles, Calif.) made three saves and allowed two goals in the setback. Daniel Webster's Sean Hamilton (Brookline, N.H.) made four saves in the victory.

The Pride return home on Saturday afternoon to host Becker College in an NECC contest scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
