PRIDE DROP ROAD CONTEST AT LESLEY, 4-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University bested the Regis men's soccer team on Monday night in New England Collegiate Conference play by a score of 4-1. Regis falls to 3-7 (1-1 NECC) with the loss, while Lesley improves to 5-2-2 (2-0 NECC).

Sophomore Jordan Santos (Middlebury, Conn.) assisted on the first two goals for the Lynx, setting up Jonathan Jones Takano (Tokyo, Japan) and later Makenzie Lukas (Reno, Nev.). Ari Sinanis (Guilford, Conn.) scored on a penalty kick attempt in the 38-th minute for the 3-0 lead.

The Pride cut the deficit in the 53-rd minute of play when a deep throw-in from the left corner in front of the Lesley goal led to an illegal takedown on a would-be Pride header. Reigning NECC Player of the Week Steve Tavares (Bellingham, MA) stepped to the stripe for Regis and converted, pulling the Pride to within 3-1. The goal marked Tavares' ninth of the season.

Sinanis added his second goal of the game with less than three minute to play on an indirect kick from just under 25 yards, making it a 4-1 final.

Stefan Todorovic (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Chris Campbell (South Hadley, Mass.) split time in net for the Pride, making one save and three saves, respectively.

Regis will play their next game on Wednesday, Sept. 26, as the team hosts Fitchburg State at 5:00 p.m.
