WESTON, Mass. – Clark University scored a pair of goals in each half as the Cougars defeated Regis College, 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in non-league men's soccer action in Weston, Mass. The Pride drop to 1-5 on the year, while Clark moves to .500 at 3-3 on the young season.

Clark struck first as Josh Demers (Warwick, R.I.) placed a corner kick into the box that Zachary Doenmez (Dublin, N.H.) deflected off the opposite post and in to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead just under 10 minutes into the game. The Pride responded nearly 15 minutes later as Angel Aguilar (Silver Springs, Md.) found Steve Tavares (Bellingham, Mass.) at the top of the box, and following a nifty dribble move, Tavares blasted the ball at the near post and found the equalizer to make it 1-1.

With just under 13 minutes to play in the opening half, Kent Vorland (Kristiansand, Norway) found a streaking Josh Demers from midfield and placed a perfect pass that Demers promptly scored off the opposite post to put Clark back on top 2-1. With less than 10 seconds to play, the Pride had a chance for a quick score off a corner kick, but Alex Caliendo's (Windsor, Conn.) shot from inside the box was blocked back to midfield and Regis entered the half trailing by one goal.

Clark outshot the Pride at an 11-7 clip in the opening frame, while Regis held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Pride's Stefan Todorovic (Los Angeles, Calif.) made three saves in the first half, while his counterpart Ryan King (Brimfield, Mass.) turned away two shots.

Nearly 22 minutes into the second half, Oscar Zapata (Lima, Peru) scored off a well-placed header pass from Doenmez that extended the Clark lead to 3-1. Zapata added his second goal of the day with less than seven minutes remaining in the game as the Regis keeper Chris Campbell (South Hadley, Mass.) deflected a cross from Josh Demers that landed at the feet of Zapata, who promptly flipped the ball over Campbell to finish the scoring at 4-1.

The Cougars ended the game with a 19-11 advantage in shots, while neither team attempted a corner in the second half. Clark's Ryan King picked up his fourth win of the year in net while making four saves and allowing one goal. The Pride's Stefan Todorovic moves to 0-3 on the year and made three saves, while Chris Campbell finished the second half with two saves and two goals allowed.

The Pride look to end a three game skid on Monday afternoon as Regis hosts Eastern Nazarene College in a non-conference matchup at 4:30 p.m. Clark returns home on Wednesday night as the Cougars host the University of New England in a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
