MEN’S SOCCER TABBED SEVENTH IN NECC POLL

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's soccer team has been selected to finish seventh this season in the annual New England Collegiate Conference preseason poll. The poll is determined by a vote conducted by the league's coaches.

The Pride come into the year looking to improve upon their 6-12-1 record from 2011 in a season that ended just shy of an NECC playoff berth. The team will be led by tri-captains Jeff Parrish (Framingham, Mass.), Sean Crawford (Framingham, Mass.), and Nick Tavares (Bellingham, Mass.).

Defending NECC champion Lesley University was selected to finish first in the league this year after picking up five first place votes and 72 points. Daniel Webster received one first place vote and 62 points to come in at the second spot. Southern Vermont College, which finished the 2011 regular season unbeaten, was selected to finish third after picking up 60 points.

Newbury College, Elms College, and Mitchell College came in at the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots, respectively. Becker College and Wheelock College round-out the poll in the eighth and ninth positions.
