SCOTS TAKE PRIDE 7-1

Weston, Mass.-Ending its first year as a varsity sport at Regis College, men's soccer lost 7-1 to The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Gordon College (8-7-2, 6-5-2 TCCC). Regis College (0-18, 0-13 TCCC) finished its season number one in saves (185).

Archie Reed (Abington, Mass.) would lead the Scots with two goals, both coming in the second period, and within three minutes of each other. Jeff Spruance (Ledyard, Conn.) opened the game with the first score, from an assist by Sean Lafferty (Litiz, PA), who would also score later in the period. Spruance would also have two assists on the night.

Gordon College would have six different players score goals on the night. Matt Horth (Akron, Ohio) had the team's second goal at 12:30. Teammate Dan Engberg (Bloomington, Minn.) would assist Horth into scoring position.

Credit Regis keeper Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.) with 12 saves on the night, but skillful play by the Scots limited the Regis defense in helping LaMacchia.

At 63:20, Chuck Andreas (Green Bay, Wis.) would score the last goal of the evening, easily capping the Scots win.

Continuing to fight on, the Pride's Josh Fidalgo (Boston, Mass.) would head an attempt into net, scoring Regis' only goal. Fidalgo would find himself on the receiving end of a well-placed cross from Shawn McDonugh (Framingham, Mass.). TCCC tournament brackets should be determined Oct. 30.
