NO HOMECOMING FOR GORDON, PRIDE REIGN 2-1

WENHAM, MA. -- Gordon Men's Soccer suffered a difficult 2-1 loss to Regis before a large and supportive crowd on Homecoming Weekend.  The loss drops Gordon to 5-7, and 4-4 within The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  Regis moves to 4-9-1, and 2-6 in TCCC play.

Gordon struck first, scoring in the 21st minute off of a corner kick.  Matt Horth found Noah McGarr in front of the net, and the sophomore converted from close range for his 3rd goal of the year.

The visiting Pride answered back in the 36th minute when Mohammed Diallo collected a rebound in front of the net and chipped a shot past Zach Frey to knot the score.

Just moments later, the Gordon defense seemed to be caught out of position on a free ball in front of their own net.  The Scots' defense inadvertently deflected the ball into the net for an own goal, putting Regis up 2-1 at halftime.

Despite heavy Gordon pressure, the goal proved to be the last of the match.  The Scots controlled possession for the majority of the match, racking up a whopping 31-8 advantage in shots and and 11-2 edge in corners.  Matt Horth and Kellen Kasiguran both had sparkling second half chances, as Horth drilled the right post and Kasiguran hit the crossbar.

Zach Frey was rarely tested in the second half, but did make an outstanding sprawling save to keep the match close.  The Pride's Andrew LaMacchia posted 10 saves.

Gordon will travel to Rhode Island on Wednesday, October 14, for a matchup with conference foe Roger Williams.  Regis hosts New England College on Wednesday.
