BISON TAKE 3-0 CHARGE OVER REGIS COLLEGE

Weston, Mass.-In a well fought The Commonwealth Coast Conference battle, Nichols College (7-3, 3-1 TCCC) topped Regis College (2-7, 0-4 TCCC) 3-0 Wednesday. Nichols' Joseph Neves (Norwood, Mass.) scored two goals on four shots in the game, and had one assist.

Michael Schell (South Windsor, Conn.) opened the game with an unassisted goal at 40:29. Regis maintained a steady defense on the Bison, but Schell would squeak his shot past Pride keeper Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.).

LaMacchia had seven saves in 90:00 minutes. Regis had its attempts on net with repeated shots by sophomore Shawn McDonough (Framingham, Mass.). McDonough's first attempt would glide just over the post.

The Pride out shot Nichols 18-11 in the first period. Bison keeper Brendan Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) managed six saves in 68:30 minutes of play.

After the half the Bison returned to the field as strong as the first period, opening with its second goal at 50:49. That was Neves' first score, assisted by David Johnson (Canterbury, Conn.)

With time remaining Nichols appeared determined to keep the ball on the offensive, pressuring the Regis defense deeper into its own territory. The Bison managed 11 shots on goal in the second period to the Regis' one.

Nichols also took seven total corner kicks, four in the second period. Regis College will face TCCC opponent Curry College October 3, while the Bison travel to Endicott College.
