PRIDE HOST SALVE REGINA IN TCCC HOME OPENER

Weston, Mass.-The Regis College Men's Soccer team will be hosting conference opponent Salve Regina on the new state of the art turf fields on Saturday September 19, 2009 at 3:00 pm.

After suffering a tough 2-0 defeat to Lesley College, the Pride will look to continue to find that spark they began the season with, come Saturday.  Sophomores Shawn Mcdonough (Framingham, Mass.), Josh Fidalgo (Dorchester, Mass.), and Ricky Guyette (Medway, Mass.) all are in the leader category for most goals on the season, along with 3 others.  They will all be expected to lead the Pride attack into victory.  Freshman John Goncalves (Framingham, Mass.) is leading the team in assist, and will also be looking to display the same performance he has shown this season.

In the defensive end the Pride will be relying on great play by sophomore Wade Thongsythavong (Salem, Mass.) and goalkeeper Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.) who will display the strength of the Pride in the backfield against a very talented Salve Regina squad.

The Seahawks are coming to the home turf of Regis, with a winning streak of three in a row.  Their large numbers provide Salve to play numerous amounts of guys, therefore keeping many guys fresh.  Goalkeeper Kurt Ginthwain (Tolland, Conn.) will try to deny the Pride's attack.  Sophomore Ian Jentgen (Columbus, Ohio) will lead the attack for Salve Regina.

The last time these two teams met, Salve Regina took the game over the Pride.  But with a stronger and promising supporting cast, Regis men's soccer team could be this year's sleeper team of the conference.  This match will be fast paced on the new turf field.
