PRIDE FALL 2-0 TO LESLEY IN BATTLE OF BIG CATS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University men's soccer team improved to 4-1-1 with a 2-0 victory over Regis College on Wednesday night.  Sophomore striker Joe Petit (SALEM, Mass./Salem) had his hand in both goals for the Lynx as he had both a goal and an assist.

Lesley was aggressive throughout the entire match as the home team outshot the visiting Pride 39-9.  However, despite 13 shots on goal the Lynx were stopped by Regis keeper Andrew LaMacchia (LYNN, Mass./St. Mary's) 11 times.

In the seventh minute of the match, Lesley's junior midfielder Tyler Reeves (COVENTRY, Conn./Coventry) broke the scoreless game after Petit threaded a pass through two defenders to Reeves for the score.  For Reeves, the goal tied him with teammate Ari Sinanis (GUILFORD, Conn./Guilford) for the team lead with three goals on the season.

For the next 80 minutes, the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Lynx as both teams were unable to find the back of the net.

Lesley continued to attack LaMacchia between the posts with near goals by Clark Davidson (KEESEVILLE, N.Y./AuSable Valley Central) and Beau Morimando (BAYSHORE, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) who both came off the bench to contribute with quality minutes.

At 87:14, Petit finished off his impressive day on the pitch by adding an insurance goal.  Petit connected on a pass crossed right-to-left by Sinanis and past LaMacchia for the score.

In net for the Lynx was Zachary Almeida-Beers (REHOBOTH, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) who recorded four saves as the Pride tallied nine total shots.

Lesley will travel down to Long Island to play Old Westbury College on Saturday, September 19 at 3:30 pm.  Regis, who dropped to 2-4 on the season, hosts Salve Regina University on the same day at 3:00 pm.
