WINTHROP, Mass. - After leading the Regis College men's lacrosse team to its first 3-0 start in program history, sophomore goalie Devin Hammon (Chicopee, Mass.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week and first-year attack player Jack Jaynes (Reading, Mass.) has been selected GNAC Rookie of the Week, announced Monday, March 11, by the league office.

Hammon began the week with seven saves in last Monday's season-opening victory at Hilbert. Wednesday night in his hometown, he battled the rain and Elms College as he made a then-career high 16 saves, including seven saves in the final 15 minutes to hold off the Blazer attack in Regis' 9-7 win.

Saturday, Hammon sailed past that career high total with 23 saves at Salem State, featuring eight saves in the second quarter to hold the Vikings scoreless as the Pride turned a 3-1 deficit into a 6-3 halftime lead. The 23 saves are tied for the third-most in a single match in program history. Hammon is currently leading the GNAC with a .687 save percentage and a 7.00 goals against average.

Jaynes got his collegiate career off to a solid start as he finished with two goals and five assists for seven total points along with five groundballs and two caused turnovers at Hilbert. Wednesday night, he contributed two goals and three groundballs in Regis' victory over Elms.

Saturday at Salem State, Jaynes notched his first career hat trick, ending up with four goals, two assists, and two groundballs. He was a threat to score throughout the match against the Vikings, taking a match-high 12 shots during the afternoon.

Hammon becomes the first Regis player to receive GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors since Nick Penta was selected two years ago on March 14, 2022. It has been four years between GNAC Rookie of the Week awards for the Pride, as Ryan Richardson was the last first-year player to pick up the honor March 16, 2020.

Regis College (3-0) opens its home and conference schedule Wednesday, March 13, against University of Saint Joseph beginning at 6 p.m. The Pride remain at Regis Stadium to host MCLA Saturday, March 16, beginning at 3 p.m.
