Men’s Lacrosse Defeated in Road GNAC Contest

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Regis College was defeated by Norwich University, 21-8, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse match at Sabine Field.

Ryan Richardson (Corona, Calif.) led the Pride offensively with four goals while Connor Deveau (Harwich, Mass.) added two goals on three shots. Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) finished with one goal and two assists and Blake Hiltz (Tewksbury, Mass.) contributed one goal and one assist. 

Norwich jumped on the Pride early, scoring the first five goals of the contest. Regis took advantage of an extra-man opportunity at the end of the first quarter when Liam Donovan (Lynn, Mass.) found Hiltz for the Pride's first goal of the game. Just over forty seconds later, Richardson scored off an assist from Marsella. Richardson would score twice more in the second quarter but the Pride were unable to overcome an onslaught of Norwich goals leaving the score at 13-4 by halftime.

Deveau got things started for the Pride in the third quarter, scoring an unassisted goal early in the period. Later in the quarter, Richardson would score his fourth goal of the game to make the score 14-6 in favor of the Cadets. In the fourth quarter, Norwich would outscore the Pride 5-2 to extend its lead and earn the victory.

The Cadets were led by Parker Campbell with four goals and five assists while Tyler Seidel finished with three goals and two assists. Callum Jones added three goals and one assist.

Nick Penta (Cotuit, Mass.) made 12 saves for the Pride with Robby Fuller (Wolfeboro, N.H.) subbing in at the end of the game and adding an additional save. Andrew Morgan and Thomas Kelliher split time in net for Norwich combining for five saves. 

Regis College (2-11, 0-8 GNAC) hosts Senior Day against Emmanuel on Wednesday, Apr. 20, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
