Men’s Lacrosse Loses Competitive GNAC Contest
WESTON, Mass. –  In a competitive Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse match, Regis College lost to Albertus Magnus College, 6-3, Saturday afternoon at Regis Stadium.
Blake Hiltz (Tewksbury, Mass.), Brayden Hutchinson (Belgrade, Maine), and Ryan Richardson (Corona, Calif.) each scored one goal for the Pride while Jack Crater (Welcome, N.C.) and Anthony Marsella (Johnston, R.I.) both added one assist apiece.
Regis struck first halfway through the first quarter when Hiltz scored an unassisted goal to put the Pride up 1-0. Albertus Magnus went on to score the next three goals, including two consecutive goals by Zaheim Wilkins. With 3:33 remaining in the first half, Crater connected with Hutchinson, leaving the Pride trailing 3-2 at halftime.
Albertus Magnus pulled away in the third quarter, starting with a goal by Tyler Landsiedel, assisted by Will Capalbo, just a few minutes into the second half. With just under six minutes remaining in regulation, Richardson scored off a pass from Marsella to make it a one-goal game, but two additional Albertus Magnus goals just twenty seconds apart put the game out of reach for the Pride.
Regis goalie Nick Penta (Cotuit, Mass.) made 10 saves throughout the match while Albertus Magnus goalie Dane Walsh had 18 saves. The Pride collected 31 ground balls, compared to the Falcons' 20, and outshot the visitors 40-34.
Regis College (2-7, 0-4 GNAC) next plays at Saint Joseph's College of Maine Wednesday, Apr. 6, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Albertus Magnus (5-5, 1-3 GNAC) hosts the University of Saint Joseph Wednesday starting at 7:00 p.m.
