Men’s Lacrosse Falls in First Match of 2022

CASTINE, Maine – Regis College lost to Maine Maritime Academy, 17-3, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men's collegiate lacrosse match at Ritchie Field.

Ryan Richardson (Corona, Calif.) led the Pride with two goals, with Liam Donovan (Lynn, Mass.) picking up the other Regis tally in the match. Nick Penta (Andover, Mass.) finished with a career-high 20 saves as Maine Maritime continually pressured the Regis defense throughout the game.

Sam Nichol scored the first two goals for the Mariners in a span of 47 seconds in the first period, and Riley Morin followed with the next two goals, one in the first quarter and the other in the second period, as the home team remained ahead throughout the afternoon.

Jayden Wilson led Maine Maritime with six goals and three assists. Noah Caramihalis was 17-for-23 on faceoffs, while Ian Haines paced the Mariners with seven groundballs and three caused turnovers. Zach McCarthy played the first three periods in net and was credited with five saves.

Regis College (0-1) begins a stretch of six consecutive home matches with a rescheduled contest against Eastern Nazarene College Monday, March 7, starting at 7 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
