BARRILE SNAGS PLAYER OF THE YEAR, FRASER NAMED TOP COACH

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College goalkeeper D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Year, it was announced Monday morning by the league offices. Head Coach Randy Fraser was selected as the conference Coach of the Year after leading the Crimson and Gold to a program best 13-4 record and a NECC Championship in his first year at Regis.

Along with his yearly honor, Barrile was named to the All-NECC Second Team. Teammates Jack O'Brien (Milton, Mass.) earned his fourth selection to the All-NECC First Team as a specialist and senior attack Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) was chosen for the All-NECC First Team for the fourth time. Senior co-captain Andrew O'Reilly (Hollis, N.H.) earned All-Sportsmanship Team honors.

D.J. Barrile was a three-time NECC Player of the Week and a one-time ECAC Division III New England Defensive Player of the Week selection. Barrile started in three conference games in the cage for the Crimson and Gold and went 3-0 with a league best 16 goals against, a 5.33 goals against average and a 72.4% save percentage. Barrile also ranked fourth in the league in total saves with 42. In one of his finest performances of the season, the junior captain held the defending NECC Champion Becker Hawks to only three goals while making 15 saves in an 8-3 Regis win on April 9th.

In his first season as coach of the Pride, Randy Fraser led the squad to a program best 13-4 record, which was tops in the conference and had the programs first undefeated (4-0) NECC record. Under Fraser's tutelage, Regis won their first ever NECC Tournament game and NECC Championship.

Jack O'Brien started and played in four conference contests for the Pride. The faceoff specialist, led the Pride in groundballs with 36 which was the best mark in the league, and was 68-of-80 (85%) on faceoffs which was the highest percentage in the conference. O'Brien's 68 faceoff wins was the league leading mark. He added two goals as well and caused one turnover.

Nicky Rodrigo played in four conference contest for Regis. He led the team and league in goals with 17, ranked tied for second on the squad in assists (4) and led the team and league in points (21). Rodrigo scooped up 10 groundballs, caused three turnovers and ranked second in the NECC in shooting percentage with a 60.7% mark.
