REGIS SENIORS SHINE ON SENIOR DAY

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's lacrosse team ended their regular season home slate with an impressive 19-7 victory against New England Collegiate Conference opponent Wheelock College in a Senior Day matchup on Saturday afternoon. The victory moved the Crimson and Gold to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Wildcats dropped to 5-6 and remain winless in league games.

In a pregame ceremony, seniors, Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.), Andrew O'Reilly (Hollis, N.H.), Jack O'Brien (Milton, Mass.) and Mike Emanuelson (North Conway, N.H.) were honored for their contributions to the team and the athletic department. Dr. Leslie Bishop, Associate Professor of Chemistry and the parents of Zach Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) were also thanked by the senior parents as well.

Nicky Rodrigo was the leading scorer on the day as he tallied six goals and one assist. The senior captain also scooped up three groundballs. Andrew O'Reilly dished out a game high five assists and snagged five ground balls. Jack O'Brien added two goals of his own and was 25-of-27 from the face off X with a game-best 16 groundballs.

AJ Karofsky (Barrington, R.I.) and freshman attack Justin Roderick (Pawtucket, R.I.) chipped in with four and three goals respectively.

The Pride jumped out to a 9-2 advantage and never looked back as they outscored the guests 10-5 through the remainder of the contest.

Leading the Wildcats offense was Keenan Brown (Salem, Mass.) who scored two goals. Matt White (Milford, Conn.) was a huge part of the Wheelock defense as he caused five turnovers, scooped up a team-high six ground balls and took the rock coast to coast through the Pride defense for a goal.

In his first start in net of the year, junior goalkeeper Tyler Estes (Geneva, Ill.) made 10 saves and earned his first win of the year. Noah Horning (Brookline, Mass.) took the loss and dropped to 4-6.

Regis returns to the field on Tuesday, April 19th when they travel to Daniel Webster for a 4:00 p.m. conference contest. Wheelock hosts Lyndon State at Rivier University on Wednesday, April 20th at 6:30 p.m.
