SALEM, Mass. – Danny Rancano (Miami, Fla.) netted two goals and an assist but it wasn't enough to avoid defeat as the Regis College men's lacrosse team dropped an 11-3 defeat to Salem State on Wednesday at Alumni Field.

Ben Melaugh (Billerica, Mass.) scored a hat-trick and added four assists for the Vikings (5-3) and AJ Karofsky (Barrington, R.I.) scored once for the Pride (5-3).

Melaugh put the Vikings up 1-0 when he took a pass from Pearsons and beat Regis goalie D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.) low and away for the game's first score. Melaugh set up Dempsey with the contest's next goal before adding his second of the game as the Vikings took a 3-0 lead in the first. Karofsky got one back for the Pride with forty-one seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 3-1 at the end of the first.

The Vikings added two more scores in the second period to take a 5-1 lead into halftime. Scordato and Dempsey each notched a goal as Salem State held a slight 17-16 advantage in shots before the half.
