PRIDE WIN FOURTH GAME OVER HUSSON 5-4

BANGOR, Maine — Husson University men's lacrosse team lost in the fourth quarter to Regis College with a score of 5-4 on Saturday March 19 in non-conference action at John P. Boucher Field.

Jack White and Brooks Gay each netted goals for Husson, while Brando Corbo came away with two goals and two assists making him the third player in program history to have an overall total of 150 points. Goalkeeper Matt Martin stopped nine of Regis's 21 shots, helping to keep Husson within striking distance. Derek Johnson broke the school record for most caused turnovers in a single game with ten for an impressive defensive effort for the Eagles.

Danny Rancano (Miami, Fla.), AJ Karofsky (Barrington, R.I.), and Collin Spillane (Franklin, Mass.) each netted a goal for the Pride, while Junior Alex Ferran (Miami, Fla.) contributed two goals to the 5-4 total. Spillane and Calvin Brault (Colchester, Vt.) each scooped up two ground balls and Ferran and Rancano lead the Pride with five shots each. Junior goalkeeper D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.) had 16 saves in the contest giving him the win in the net for Regis.

Husson (0-4) got on the board first in the eighth minute of play when Corbo found Gay with a feed and the Sophomore attacker buried an early chance in the first quarter.

The Pride (4-1) then netted two goals that were unassisted from Spillane and Karofsky in the attacking positions making the score 2-1 after the first. Rancano with the only goal in the second quarter made it a quiet 15 minutes and gave the Pride the lead going into half time. The Eagles came alive in the fourth quarter as Corbo tallied two unassisted goals and gave an assist to the senior midfielder Jack White evening the score with the Pride at 4-4. 16 seconds later in the fourth, Ferran gave the pride a 5-4 win with an unassisted goal.

Husson will be back in action on Wednesday March 23 against Saint Joseph's (Maine) at 4:00 p.m. The Pride will return to their home field against Green Mountain at 5:00 p.m.
