LEIGHTON HIGHLIGHTS ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – Four members of the Regis College men's lacrosse team were named to the New England Collegiate Conference All-Conference team it was announced Monday morning.

Senior Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) and junior Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) earned All-Conference Attack honors while sophomore Colby Connell (Warwick, R.I.) was a defensive selection and junior Jack O'Brien (Milton, Mass.) earned the specialist nod.

Leighton wrapped up his collegiate career leading the conference in assists (9) while ranking second in the conference in points (15) and seventh in goals (6).

Rodrigo led the Pride in scoring while also ranking fourth in the conference in goals with nine. He also ranked seventh in the league in points (11) and led the league in up goals with five.

Connell was a stalwart on defense for the Pride as he scooped up eight groundballs and caused three turnovers while helping the Pride defensive unit to hold opponents to a league low 9.94 goals per game.

O'Brien was one of the best specialists in the league as he won 40-of-56 (71.4%) of face-offs during the year. He also ranked third in the league and led the team in groundballs as he scooped up 20 during conference contests while adding two goals and one assist during the season.

The Pride finished their 2015 campaign with an 8-6 record including a 1-2 record in conference play.
