PRIDE FALL SHORT IN NECC SEMIFINALS

LEICESTER, Mass. - The Regis College men's lacrosse team suffered a 10-7 setback in the New England Collegiate Conference Semifinals to Becker College on Wednesday night at Alumni Field. The win lifts the Hawks record to 7-8 while the Pride fall to 8-6.

Becker will now travel to top seeded Mitchell College to complete for the conference crown on Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m.

Becker tallied the lone goal of the first quarter when Cruz Desrochers (Malden, Mass.) scored into the bottom left corner of the Pride net from five yards out.

Becker's Blake Boutiette (Burrillville, R.I.) scored his first of six goals on the night with 10:53 remaining in the first half. Boutiette ripped a shot from the middle of the field, into the top right corner of the net to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead.

Regis got on the board on the ensuing face-off when Calvin Brault (Colchester, Vt.) went the length of the field, scoring with a bounce shot to cut the Hawks lead in half.

One minute later, Daniel Johnson (Plymouth, Mass.) scored after rolling from behind the Regis net for his 41st goal of the season. Blake Boutiette scored his second goal of the game on a pass from Alex Rossman (Newington, Conn.) to give the Hawks a 4-1 advantage.

The Pride climbed back into the game after Alex Ferran (Miami, Fla.) and Grant Nordlund (Miami, Fla.) netted consecutive goals to close out the first half with Becker leading 4-3.

Avyay Chaganty (Bridgewater, N.J.) gave the Hawks a 5-3 lead when scored after gathering a turnover behind the Regis net. Blake Boutiette then bull-dodged a pair of Regis defenders, tickling the twine from eight yards out to put the Hawks up 6-3.

The Pride refused to go down easily as they responded with back-to-back goals. Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) scored on a sidearm shot, while Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) put Regis within a goal on a stand still shot from 15 yards out.

Blake Boutiette closed out the third quarter with a goal on a man-advantage opportunity, sending the Hawks into the fourth quarter with a 7-5 lead.

Boutiette opening the fourth quarter with his fifth goal of the game, this one coming on a stand still shot from ten yards out. Daniel Johnson gave the Hawks some breathing room when he scored into the bottom right corner of the Regis net with a sidearm shot. Boutiette completed his six goal performance when he spun around the Regis net, scoring top shelf.

Collin Spillane (Franklin, Mass.) and Calvin Brault added late goals for the Pride, but the Hawks defense held their ground for the 10-7 victory.

Becker goalie Anthony Jordan (West Hartford, Conn.) improved his record to 4-1 on the year after making eight saves. D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.) stood on his head for the Pride, turning away 18 shots in a losing effort.
