REGIS EARNS BID TO ECAC TOURNAMENT

WESTON, Mass. - For the first time in program history, the Regis College men's lacrosse team has earned a bid into the ECAC Tournament and will take on NECC foe Becker College on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Leicester, Mass.

The Pride finished the regular season at 9-7 this year, the program's first season over .500, and set a new record for wins in a season. Regis and Becker met back on April 29, a 12-10 victory for the Hawks.

This season, Regis has been led by NECC Co-Player of the Year Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.), who was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second-straight year after scoring three goals and assisting on seven in three conference games this season.

In overall play, Rodrigo ranked second in the NECC in goals (48), assists (29), and points (77) through 16 games played. He also added 30 ground balls and six caused turnovers. Rodrigo was twice named the NECC Player of the Week this year and was also named to Lax Magazine's weekly Honor Roll on two separate occasions.

Becker posted a 14-5 mark overall this year, falling to Emmanuel in the GNAC Championship game. The Hawks have been led by NECC Co-Rookie of the Year Daniel Johnson (Plymouth, Mass.), who scored 47 goals and had 13 assists in his first season with Becker. David Deschenes (Gales Ferry, Conn.) led Becker with 50 goals and 44 assists for a total of 94 points this year.

The winner of the Regis game will move on to face the winner of the other ECAC Semfinal between Salve Regina University (13-5) and Mitchell College (8-7) on Friday.
