MEN'S LACROSSE TO COMPLETE SPRING BREAK SWING IN TEXAS

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men’s lacrosse team will play in the warmth this winter – for one week at least. During spring break, the squad will travel to the state of Texas where they will face-off against two separate Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SAAC) squads.

Following a brief break in early season action, the team flies into Dallas before making the cross-state trek to Georgetown, Texas.  The Pride will meet the Pirates of Southwestern University who, like the Pride, will enter their fourth season of varsity play after finishing the 2012 campaign with a 5-11 record under first-year coach Bill Bowman.

The squads square off in a night time contest at 7:00 p.m. (CST) on March 7, which will be available via the live stats feature on goregispride.com.

Following a day of sightseeing in the city of Dallas, the team travels the short distance to the University of Dallas for a 12:00 p.m. (CST) matinee on March 9. The game will be available to watch through a pay per view option on goregispride.com.

The Irving, Texas campus is home to a three-year old Crusader program that ended last season with a 2-12 mark. The team is headed by first-year head coach Jeff Guy.

“Taking a trip is one of the greatest tools in helping to bond a team and I can think of no better place to travel than the Lone Star state,” head coach Josh Blumenthal said. “We are looking forward to getting out of the cold and facing some great southwestern competition.”

The Pride stickmen enter the season as members of both the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) and Pilgrim League with Blumenthal at the helm for his second year.
