MEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATS WILDCATS 19-1 IN SEASON FINAL

WESTON, Mass.-The Regis College men's lacrosse team defeated Wheelock College Saturday night by the score of 19-1. This was second meeting between the two teams in the program's short histories. The game caps the end of the 2012 season for both squads.

Regis improves to 4-11 overall on the season and ties the program record for all-time wins in a season with four. The Wildcats conclude their second varsity season with a 0-11 record and will look to improve for the 2013 campaign.

The Pride was led by freshman Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) who tallied a game and team high of six goals and one assist to notch seven points on the day. Nick Dallas (Huntington Beach, Calif.) Billy Stewart (West Roxbury, Mass.), and Chris Costello (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) were second on the team in points compiling four a piece.

The Wildcats received their lone goal from Kevin Kareckas (South Berwick, Maine) who was able to dodge past two Pride defenders ad find the back of the net. Reed Parkhurst was the main groundball maven for Wheelock by scooping up a team high of five groundballs.

Regis split time between the pipes allowing Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) and Andrew Madden (North Easton, Mass.) to combine for nine saves on the day. Crane also scored his first two goals of the season during the second half of play.

The Wildcats were led on defense by Mike Manning (Brookfield, N.H.) who tallied a game high of 26 saves on the game.
