PRIDE FALL TO BUCCANEERS 12-5 AND WRAP UP PILGRIM LEAGUE PLAY

Weston, Mass. -- Freshman Drew Prowse (Wakefield, Mass.) notched a hat trick and three assists for six points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 12-5 Pilgrim Lacrosse League victory over Regis Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Prowse netted a pair of goals in the opening 30 minutes of play to stake the host Buccaneers (7-8, 1-4 Pilgrim) to a 3-2 advantage at the break, and after sophomore Billy Stewart (West Roxbury, Mass.) evened matters for the visiting Pride (3-11, 0-6 Pilgrim) just 58 seconds after intermission, Massachusetts Maritime ran off eight unanswered markers in nearly 19 minutes of action, including a hat trick from freshman Dylan Freudenberg (Islip, N.Y.) and a pair of tallies from junior Dan Langley (Abington, Mass.), to take an 11-3 lead with 7:32 to play in the contest en route to its triumph.

Senior Kyle Scannell (Tierra Verde, Fla.) added a pair of goals in the victory for the Buccaneers, who also received single markers off the sticks of senior Will Doucette (Manchester, Mass.) and junior Sean Mahoney (Medford, Mass.). Freshman Adam Palilonis (Hightstown, N.J.) chipped in with a pair of assists for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a helper from senior Peter Menard (Somerset, Mass.) in notching its first Pilgrim League victory in nearly two seasons.

Sophomore Matt Vogan (Belmont, Mass.) collected a pair of goals in the setback for Regis, which also received a marker and helper each from sophomore John Basbas (Framingham, Mass.) and freshman Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) as well as single assists from sophomore Matt Molloy (Saugus, Mass.) and freshman Nick Dallas (Huntington Beach, Calif.). Freshman Eric Kuehn (Norwell, Mass.) picked up his third victory of the season in goal for Massachusetts Maritime with an 11-save effort, while sophomore Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) made 12 stops in 51-plus minutes of play in the setback for Regis as the Buccaneers outshot the Pride by a 45-27 margin while holding a 15-5 edge in face-offs for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime closes out its regular season slate on Saturday evening by hosting Wheaton in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League match at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Regis hosts Wheelock in its 2012 season finale on Saturday afternoon in Weston, Mass. beginning at 5:00 p.m.
