COUGARS POUNCE ON PRIDE, 19-2

WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark University jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as the Cougars defeated Regis College, 19-2, on Friday night in Pilgrim League action in Worcester, Mass. Clark improves to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the Pilgrim League, while the Pride drops to 3-8 and 0-3 in league games.

Clark scored seven goals in the opening period as Jeffrey Wasson netted three tallies to go along with two goals from Graham Werner and a goal apiece from Chris Johnson and Thomas Lynch. Lynch scored the first goal of the second quarter before Andrew Haddon (Nantucket, Mass.) finally put the Pride on the board off a feed from Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.). Unfortunately for the Pride, it would be their last goal of the opening half as the Cougars scored the final three goals of the period to take an 11-1 lead into the break.

Regis' Nick Dallas (Huntington Beach, Calif.) scored the first goal of the second half to make it 11-2, but the Cougars closed the game on an 8-0 run to defeat the Pride, 19-2.

Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) made 11 saves while allowing 19 goals in the setback. Crane added a team-best five groundballs, while Chris Campbell (South Hadley, Mass.) scooped up four of his own, and Chris Costello (Edgartown, Mass.) scooped up three more groundballs. Andrew Goldberg (Solebury, Pa.) paced the Pride defense with three caused turnovers.

The Crimson and Gold return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host MIT in a Pilgrim League game at 7:00 p.m.
