VOGAN VALIANTLY POSTS SIX POINTS IN VICTORY OVER BADGERS 15-7

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College Men's Lacrosse team defeated Johnson State College Tuesday afternoon by the score of 15-7. The Pride improves to 3-6 overall while the visiting Badgers drop to 1-4 overall on the season.

The Badgers broke the game open with the a goal late in the first quarter when Alex Petti (East Greenich, Conn.) converted on a well placed pass from Nash Garceau (North Haven, Conn.) to take the first lead of the game. Nash responded a minute late with another bounce shot to put Johnson state up 2-0 at the end of the first period.

The Pride started the second quarter of with a sense of urgency as Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) connected on a pass from Billy Stewart (West Roxbury, Mass.) to tally the first goal of the day for Regis. This point marked the first in a six goal run for Pride. Chris Costello (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.), Matt Malloy (Saugus, Mass.), Chris Campbell (South Hadley, Mass.), Stewart, and Andrew Haddon (Nantucket, Mass.) all scored goals during the run.

The Badgers stopped the Pride's scoring run by capitalizing on a two minute man-up opportunity. Petti notched two unassisted goals by driving hard to the net and shooting topside. This put the score at 6-4 with a minute left in the second quarter. Petti continued with his strong play by netting the final goal before halftime to cut the Regis lead to one with the score being 6-5 at the half.

Petti posted the game tying goal five minutes into the third quarter to even the score at six apiece. The Pride would bounce back with a man-up goal from Campbell, who sunk a top corner shot to break the stalemate bring the score to 7-6. Costello added his second goal of the game with 18 seconds left in the third quarter giving the Pride a two goal lead.

The fourth quarter was championed by Pride sophomore Matt Vogan (Belmont, Mass.), who led the game in points in the quarter with four. Vogan finished the day with a team high six points by netting one goal and dishing the ball five times.

The Badgers were led by Petti, who tallied a team high in points by netting six goals on the game. Zach Jerome (Waterford, Conn.) tallied a game high 23 saves for the Badgers, while the Pride's Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) and Andrew Madden (North Easton, Mass.) combined for 11 saves on the game.

Regis Returns to action Thursday when they host Pilgrim League opponent Wheaton College at 7:00 p.m. The Badgers next contest is Friday when they host North Atlantic Conference opponent Maine Maritime Academy at 7:00 p.m.
