PRIDE SET TO PLAY BUCANNEERS

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men’s lacrosse team is set to take on Massachusetts Maritime Academy Tuesday (Apr. 26) at 8:00 p.m. The Pride enters the contest with an overall record of 3-6. The Buccaneers enter the contest with an overall record of 3-12 and are 0-4 in the Pilgrim Lacrosse League.

The game will be the first of many to come as this contest marks the first meeting between the two programs. The Pride will compete in the PLL next season and will regularly compete against the buccaneers for conference play.

The Pride will look to make this first meeting a statement game.  The Pride will be led on offense by the scoring of John Basbas (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and Bradford Hastings (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield). Hastings leads the team in points with 37 and Basbas has a team high with 20 goals.

The Pride’s defense will look to get on the right foot by setting the tone of the game. Andrew Goldberg (Solebury, PA/New Hope) is currently the team leader in groundballs on the season with 47. He also has a team high of caused turnovers with 17. Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass./Arlington Catholic) and Tyler Beyor (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) will look to solidify the pipes for the Pride. Both goaltenders have combined for a total of 112 saves on the season.

The Buccaneers are led by Jake Bickley (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) and Chris Davis (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) who are tied for first place in scoring. Bickley and Davis have tallied a team high of 17 goals and eight assists. Both players will look to bring a balanced attack of shooting and dodging plays against the Pride.

The Buccaneer defense is led by the goaltending play of Jack Murphy (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) who has a total of 139 saves on the season.

The game will be an away contest for the Pride and is the second to last contest of the season.
