BASBAS, VOGAN,AND BOTTEX SCORE IN PRIDE LOSS

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men's lacrosse team was defeated Saturday (Mar. 26) by New England College. The final score of the contest was 23-3. The Pilgrims improve to 4-3 on the season, while the loss is the first of the season for the Pride who fall to 2-1 overall.

 NEC's Colin Gordon (Manchester, Mass.) would get the Pilgrims on the board first as he would net his fifth goal of the season assisted by Phil DiFalco (Scarsdale, N.Y.) at the 11:35 mark.  Regis would respond knotting the game at 1-1 as John Basbas (Framingham, Mass.) would put in a nice pass from Bradford Hastings (Mansfield, Mass.).  The Pilgrims would get a final goal late in the opening quarter as Brian Gillis (N. Vancouver, B.C.) would score his first of five goals on the afternoon giving NEC the 2-1 advantage heading into the second.

 The NEC offense would come alive in the second quarter of play as the Pilgrims would record 10 unanswered goals, including three by Gillis and two by John Gabriel (West Nyack, N.Y.).

 NEC would extend their lead to 16-1 midway through the third quarter before Regis' Stephen Bottex  (Norwood, Mass.) would break the Pride scoring drought cutting the lead to 16-2 with 3:50 remaining.  Regis would get a goal from Matt Vogan (Belmont, Mass.) early in the fourth quarter but NEC would close out the game on a 6-0 scoring run eventually cruising to the 23-3 victory.  

NEC's John Gabriel finished with three goals and three assists, while Matt Carey (Medford, N.Y.) record two goals and two assists.  Ben Berry (Danvers, Mass.) chipped in three goals for the Pilgrims and Steve Parsons (Townsend, Mass.) had two goals and three assists.

 Regis College's John Basbas finished with a goal and an assist.

Picking up the win in net for NEC was Nick Aquaviva (Syracuse, N.Y.) who finished the afternoon with three saves.  Splitting time in net for Regis was Tyler Beyor (Carthage, N.Y.) who recorded six saves and Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) who finished with five saves for the Pride.

NEC returns to action on Tuesday, March 29 when they travel to take on conference opponent Curry College.  Regis will travel to take on University of New England on Tuesday, March 29.
