Springfield, Mass. – February 17, 2011 - Regis College
will join the Pilgrim Lacrosse League as a member in the sport of
men's lacrosse beginning with the 2012 season. The announcement was
made today by Dr. Craig Poisson, Pilgrim Lacrosse League
Commissioner and Senior Associate Director of Athletics at
Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
"We're thrilled to welcome Regis College as a member of the
Pilgrim Lacrosse League and solidify this conference moving
forward," said Poisson. "There was a sense from the athletic
directors in this conference that Regis was a great fit for us,
both philosophically and geographically."
Regis College will join current members Babson College, Clark
University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Massachusetts
Maritime Academy, Springfield College, and Wheaton College.
"For our men's lacrosse program to be accepted to the Pilgrim
League is exciting for both the league and for Regis College," said
Regis College Director of Athletics, Marybeth Lamb. "This is a
great opportunity for our student-athletes to compete against some
of the top programs in New England."
Entering its second-year as a varsity program, Regis will become
the seventh member of the Pilgrim League in 2012, giving the
conference the necessary number of members to earn an automatic
qualifying berth to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse
Championship.
Regis College is a Catholic liberal arts and sciences institution
founded in 1927 by the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of
Boston. After eight decades as a women-only college, Regis enrolled

undergraduate and graduate co-ed students attend classes on a

Boston. Regis College offers 16 intercollegiate sports and competes
