Regis Drops to Rhode Island College, 71-66

WESTON, Mass. – Despite holding an early six-point lead, Regis College was defeated by Rhode Island College 71-66, in a non-conference men's basketball match Tuesday night.

Russell Rau (Fitchburg, Mass.) paved the way for the Pride's offense with 19 points, two assists and seven rebounds. Cameron Wilkins (Taunton, Mass.) was another major contributor with 13 points and four rebounds, while Jamir Harvey (Robbins, III) had 17 points and five rebounds.

Rau put the Pride on top 18-16, after a missed jump shot from Harvey and an offensive rebound by Gehrig Brynda (Deerfield, Mass). Rhode Island College battled back with a three-point jump shot from Isiah Mccallam. The Pride broke through at the end of the first half, leading 38-34.

After a steal and dunk from Deyshawn Tengbeh brought the Anchormen within three points, Tengbeh made a layup, with Craig Wilson following his lead, bringing the score to an even 42-42.

Both teams continued to battle throughout the rest of the game, with the Anchormen breaking through with less than three minutes remaining on a layup from Ousmane Kourouma.

Tengbeh led the Anchormen with 15 points, while Kourouma and Wilson each had 11 points. Wilson finished with two assists.

The Pride (0-2) are scheduled to travel to Curry College for the Curry Tournament to face Salve Regina University on Nov. 17 at 7:00 p.m.
