LEICESTER, Mass. - Sam Jean-Gilles became just the fourth Regis (Mass.) men's basketball player to tally 1,000 career points, scoring a team-high 13 on the night but in a 64-60 loss at Becker in New England Collegiate Conference action Thursday night at the Leicester Gymnasium.

The Hawks of Becker improve their record to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in the NECC standings – giving them sole possession of first place – while the Pride of Regis head home with a 5-8 record, 2-2 against conference opponents.

Becker junior forward Samuel Durodola (Rosedale, N.Y. / Campus Magnet) posted his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 24 points with 16 rebounds, a career-high six assists, two steals and a block. Sophomore guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) finished a season-high 26 points, burying six of eight shots from behind the arc and notching two steals. Senior guard Kyle Credle (Queens, N.Y. / Benjamin N. Cardozo) added eight points with five rebounds, three blocks and three assists. 192 of Becker's 200 combined minutes were covered by the Hawks' starters.

After Becker went up by nine with 8:23 left off a layup from junior guard Antonio White Jr. (Middletown, Conn. / Middletown), the Pride ground out an 8-2 run to pull to within three, capped off with two free throws from sophomore guard Ademola Afonja (Staten Island, N.Y. / Petrides). But the Hawks came up strong down the stretch, with Davis shooting three of four from the foul line in the final 20 seconds.

The Hawks of Becker are back on the court on Tuesday when they play at Southern Vermont College with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. The Pride of Regis host Elms College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
