ATLANTA – Jeff Tagger Jr. (Brockton, Mass.) scored 12 points including the game-winning jumper from Hector Heredia (Lawrence, Mass.) as the Regis College men's basketball team halted a five game losing streak with a thrilling 69-68 overtime victory against Huntingdon College during the first game of the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Tournament hosted by Oglethorpe University on Sunday. The win improves Regis' record to 3-5 on the campaign.

After Chris Leak Jr. (New Haven, Conn.) converted a layup with 15 seconds in regulation, The Hawks had one last chance to tie the contest. Huntingdon did so as Scotty Chadwick (Dacula, Ga.) buried a three ball from the corner, but was fouled by Jordan Monts (Springfield, Mass.) of Regis setting up a potential game-winning free throw. Chadwick missed the freebie as Leak Jr. secured the rebound while time expired.

Monts made up for the foul by making a three of his own to put the Crimson and Gold up two, 63-61 with 2:46 to play. Andre Ashley (Montgomery, Ala.) converted four free throws coupled in with a Sam Jean-Gilles (Melrose, Mass.) and Ademola Afonja (Staten Island, N.Y.) layups that set up Regis for the final shot. Tagger Jr. responded and made a clutch shot to give the Pride their third win of the season.

Tagger Jr. finished with four assists and three steals. Jean-Gilles tallied a team-best 15 points and secured six boards. Chris Leak Jr. scored in double-figures, adding 14 of his own along with a team-high eight rebounds.

Regis returns to the hardwood tomorrow as they face the host Stormy Petrels in the tournament's championship game at 6:00 p.m.
