CONFERENCE BATTLE ENDS WITH UPSET

Weston, Mass.—The lead changed nine times throughout the game, and a one-and-one attempt in the last eight minutes broke a 10-minute stretch with neither team holding more than a two point lead. With a three pointer by Garrett Harden (Worcester, Mass.) in the closing 5:30 gave Gordon a 49-46 lead, and eventually the win.

Harden finished with just nine points, but all were from behind the three-point line. David Dempsey (Wallingford, Conn.) finished with a game-high 13 points to lead Gordon (7-12, 3-5 TCCC) past conference foe Regis College (12-8, 5-3 TCCC) Thursday night. Having shot just 4-for-14 from behind the three-point line as a team, Harden was a stellar 3-for-4 (.750). Greg Walker (Uxbridge, Mass.) contributed with 10 points on 5-for-12 shooting, and a rebound shy of a double-double.

As a team, Gordon out-rebounded Regis College 37-31, taking a six rebound advantage in defensive boards. Robert Edwards (Idaho Falls, Idaho/Phillips Exeter) finished with seven rebounds for Regis College, while teammate Ryan Chambers finished with a team-high 11 points.

Teammate Darrin Kelly (South Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) contributed 10 points, and helped Regis College to a one-point advantage at 5:42 when he converted his second attempt in the bonus situation.

Credit Regis' bench with having played a significant role in the conference battle, as Regis scored 21 points from its bench. In comparison, Gordon had just six points.

The teams were practically even in scoring opportunities within in the paint, Regis had a slight advantage scoring 24, while Gordon scored 20 points.

Regis College held an eight point lead (31-23) going into halftime, but the Gordon defense allowed Regis to score just 15 points in the second half.

Regis College will travel to Endicott, a The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent, on Saturday. Gordon will travel to Nichols, also a TCCC opponent, on the same day.
