Regis Field Hockey Announces Captains for 2023 Season

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College field hockey team will enter the 2023 competition season with seniors Olivia Bell (Poland, Maine), Sarah Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine), and Ashley Monteiro (Atkinson, N.H.) serving as team captains.

Bell started all 16 matches for the Pride during the 2022 season, helping the defensive effort as the team shutout Dean Sept. 24, 4-0. She was credited with defensive saves at Saint Joseph's College Sept. 28 and at Anna Maria Oct. 13. Bell scored her first career collegiate goal at Dean Oct. 20, 2021, as part of the team's victory. Majoring in nuclear medicine, Bell is a two-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree.

Juskiewicz also started all 16 matches for Regis in 2022, finishing the year with three goals and two assists for eight total points. On Oct. 1, she converted the game-winning tally with 2:30 left in the second overtime period to defeat Elms, 2-1, earning Best Overtime Victory honors as part of the Reggie Awards last April. Juskiewicz is majoring in business management and has earned Academic All-GNAC recognition twice as well as 2022-23 NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honors.

Monteiro provided a steady presence in the midfield throughout the 2022 season, starting all 16 matches for the Pride. She was credited with assists in Regis' 4-0 victory over Dean Sept. 24 as well as at Lasell Oct. 19. Monteiro scored her first career collegiate goal in her initial collegiate match against Lasell Sept. 11, 2021. Majoring in nursing, Monteiro is a two-time NFHCA National Academic Squad and two-time Academic All-GNAC selection.

In 2022, the Regis College field hockey team won three matches, all in conference play as the Pride were in contention for a spot in the GNAC Tournament until the end of the regular season. With the addition of New England College into the league, Regis is scheduled for 12 conference matches in 2023, the most league contests in the history of the program.

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including field hockey, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
