Pride Field Hockey Players Honored for Academic Excellence by NFHCA

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Several student-athletes within the Regis College field hockey program received academic awards from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, as 10 players were named Feb. 10 to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, including two honored Thursday, Feb. 17 by the coaches' organization as Scholars of Distinction.

Junior Julie Getchell (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomore Olivia Bell (Mechanic Falls, Maine) are two of over 500 student-athletes to be recognized as NFCHA Division III Scholars of Distinction. Getchell and Bell have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or higher through the Fall 2021 semester. Getchell is a nursing major with a minor in public health, and Bell is majoring in nuclear medicine.

The previous week, Bell and Getchell were joined by eight other Regis student-athletes on the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, honoring over 2,300 collegiate field hockey players who have achieved a high grade point average and were nominated by their NFCHA member coach.

Seniors Hope Celli (Pembroke, Mass.) and Sarah Tetrault (North Easton, Mass.) led the Pride contingent, with Celli on track for her nursing degree and Tetrault majoring in therapeutic recreation with a minor in exercise science. Junior Hannah Schneiderman (Manchester, N.H.), a nursing major who represented Regis on the GNAC Field Hockey All-Sportsmanship Team, also received mention on the National Academic Squad.

Five sophomores round out Regis' representation: Chloe Grande (Topsfield, Mass.), Jena Johnson (North Attleboro, Mass.), Sarah Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine), Ashley Monteiro (Atkinson, N.H.), and Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.). Juskiewicz is majoring in business management with minors in economics and communication, and the other four are nursing majors with Grande minoring in Spanish.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States.
