Mary Nee Named Head Field Hockey Coach

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College athletics department is excited to announce that Mary Nee has accepted the position of head field hockey coach/assistant athletics business manager, effective January 3, 2022.

Nee served as the assistant field hockey coach at Regis for the 2021 season, taking on the responsibility of on-field coaching during practices and matches upon a leadership change at the start of competition. She has also directed the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, monitored the academic progress of the field hockey players, and coordinated travel arrangements for away contests.

"We are extremely excited to announce Mary Nee as our next Head Field Hockey Coach/Assistant Business Manager," Pam Roecker, Regis College Dean of Athletics, said. "Coach Nee has already infused our program with energy, enthusiasm, and stability through her time as an assistant, and we have every confidence that our current team members, as well as our future prospects, are going to benefit from her leadership! The committee was impressed with Coach Nee's emphasis on building positive team culture, her base of knowledge within the sport, and the coaching experience she gained through her time on the sidelines with Regis field hockey this fall. She is an extremely hard worker, and we believe she will inspire our current & future team members to achieve all their goals as she builds a competitive program on and off the field."

Besides her coaching experience at Regis, Nee is also a coach for Extreme Field Hockey, Inc., one of the top field hockey club programs, based in Canton, Mass. Nee has been part of the coaching staff at Extreme for five years, and she also was a coach with New England Strikers for two years.

"I am extremely excited for this opportunity to be the next head field hockey coach at Regis College. I'd like to thank all my mentors throughout my career, including the Regis coaching staff I was privileged to work beside this past season," said Nee. "I look forward to being a part of these young women's college experiences in a formative way. I cannot wait to continue working with this group of players building upon what we started, as well as continuing to grow the field hockey program."

Nee was a four-year letterwinner at Saint Anselm College, appearing in 84 matches, including 48 starts. As a senior, she collected six goals and six assists for 18 total points, featuring a two-goal performance at Franklin Pierce Oct. 29, 2019. Nee also scored the lone goal in Saint Anselm's 1-0 victory over Assumption in the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Tournament. As a team captain, she would help the Hawks win the NE-10 Championship and advance to the 2019 NCAA Division II national championship game, where she picked up an assist.

Nee graduated from Saint Anselm in the spring of 2020 with her bachelor's degree in psychology, plus she minored in sociology. She is pursuing her master's degree in social work at Regis.
