Malcolm and Costantino Win GNAC Weekly Field Hockey Honors

Full GNAC Release

WINTHROP, Mass. - Senior Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) and sophomore Mary Costantino (Abington, Mass.) of the Regis (Mass.) field hockey team have been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week.

Malcolm wins the award for the second time this season after a stellar week in goal for the Pride. The senior allowed just one goal, stopping 11 of 12 shots, in leading the Pride to a 3-0 week. She made five saves in the Pride’s first-ever GNAC win on Saturday over Rivier, as well as turning aside seven of eight Rivier attempts in the penalty stroke shootout to preserve the win.

Costantino becomes the second player from the Pride to win GNAC Rookie of the Week this season, as freshman Jamie Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine) won the award on September 5. Costantino was the only Pride rookie to factor into a pair of goals last week, adding a goal in a win over Becker on Tuesday and assisting on the game’s only goal in a win over Wheelock on Thursday.

Malcolm, Costantino and the rest of the Pride field hockey squad will be back on the field beginning on Tuesday afternoon when the team welcomes Framingham State to Regis Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
