Field Hockey Lends A Helping Hand At The Jimmy Fund Walk

BOSTON - Giving back has been a hallmark of Regis Athletics and Sunday the Pride field hockey team donated its time and energy and lent a helping hand at the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.

The team worked at one of the many water stations, supplying fluids and food to participants of the event at one of the four walk routes. The event was made up of four routes, the full and half marathon, 10K and 5K walks. All routes concluded at the Copley Square Finish Line.

“This continues to be an important part of this program,” said Regis field hockey coach Nikki Panciocco. “It was great for the players to be a part of the Jimmy Fund Walk today.”

Heading into this year, the walk has raised over $120 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s fight against cancer. Eighty-eight cents of every dollar raised by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund goes directly to research and patient care at Dana-Farber.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute provides expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases. As an affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute, the Institute also provides training for new generations of physicians and scientists, designs programs that promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations, and disseminates innovative patient therapies and scientific discoveries to communities across the United States and throughout the world.
