REGIS FALLS TO AMCATS IN NECC REMATCH

PAXTON, Mass. - In a rematch of the 2013 New England Collegiate Conference Championship game, Anna Maria College defeated Regis College, 5-0, on Wednesday night in non-conference action in Paxton, Mass. The Pride fall to 2-11 with the setback, while the AMCATS improve to 9-7.

Anna Maria grabbed a 1-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game and never looked back, tallying a total of three goals in the first half before adding two more in the second en route to the 5-0 win. Kylie Dalbec scored twice and added an assist for AMC, while Kayla Garczynski, Nichole Lowe, and Shelby Looney each added a goal.

The Pride were outshot 22-8 in the game, and the AMCATS held an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) and Hailee Forest (Amherst, N.H.) each attempted two shots for Regis, with Sam Anderson (Sandwich, Mass.), Kelsey Morton (South Portland, Maine), Yasmine Akib (Everett, Mass.) and, Alli Conley (Portland, Maine) adding the other shots. Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) made eight saves in goal.

The Pride's first chance of the game came in the 24th minute when Conley took a shot on net that was saved by the Anna Maria goaltender, Mary Kate Breen. The rebound went out to Ashley Morton, who fired on net, but AMC's Amanda Hebert was there for the defensive save to keep it a 2-0 game.

In the 30th minute, Regis worked the ball into the circle and Sashae Walls, Yasmine Akib, and Sam Anderson all took shots on Breen, but she continued to keep the Pride off the scoreboard.

Hailee Forest opened the second half with a shot on goal and then missed wide with an attempt in the 55th minute. Walls took the final shot of the contest for Regis in the 68th minute, but was stoned by Bryanna Tobin.

The Pride return to action on Saturday afternoon when they go back to New England Collegiate Conference play at Elms College at 2:00 p.m.
