REGIS COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

WESTON, Mass.—The Regis College Athletics Department announced Torie Pappas (Niantic, Conn./East Lyme) of the field hockey team, and Ryne Tillman (Bedford, Mass./Bridgton Academy) of men’s soccer as the Regis College Student-Athletes of the Week.

Pappas helped field hockey to a 2-1 record during the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 2, also the college’s homecoming. Regis College (4-7) defeated Rivier College (Sept. 28) 3-1 to win its third game of the season. Then two days later defeated Wheelock College (Sept. 30) 2-1 in overtime for its fourth win.

Pappas scored the tying goal in both games. She is second in goals scored (4) and points (9) this year. Considering those with a minimum of 10 shots on goal, Pappas has the highest shots on goal percentage (.846) with at least 11 shots/goal.

Tillman had a combined 22 saves in the Pride’s two games last week. He has 87 saves on the season. He ranks first in saves in The Commonwealth Coast Conference, averaging 11.8 saves per game. Tillman is ranked 7th in TCCC saves percentage (.797).

In the Pride’s 11 games this season, Tillman has 13 saves in Regis’ two wins and a tie. Regis has seven remaining conference games, three of which are home. If Tillman continues his successful play, along with the Pride scoring when it has the opportunity. Regis College could see itself vying for a playoff spot on Oct. 30.
