Regis Athletics Celebrates Academic Excellence During Division III Week

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College athletics department invited sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students with at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average to attend the annual Regis Athletics Academic Excellence Ceremony Tuesday, April 11, in the College Hall Foyer on campus.

This year, 103 student-athletes were honored with invitations to the event which is held every year as part of Regis' celebration of NCAA Division III Week. The annual Regis Athletics Academic Excellence Ceremony is an outreach activity involving academic accomplishment, one of three spotlighted categories during NCAA Division III Week along with athletic experience and leadership/community service/campus involvement.

Isaiah Wilson '19 was the keynote speaker at this year's presentation and congratulated the assembled student-athletes on their academic achievements. He was a member of the Regis men's basketball team, President of the Class of 2019, and a speaker at the 2019 Commencement, when he graduated with his bachelor's degree in global business management.

Wilson is now a development and social media specialist at Island Garden in West Hempstead, N.Y., head boys' varsity basketball coach at Saint Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, N.Y., and the director of Heat Elite AAU in Bayville, N.Y.

Dr. Leslie Bishop, NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative, hosted the presentation and was joined in the speaking program by Dr. Mary Driscoll, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Pam Roecker, Dean of Athletics. Regis College President Dr. Antoinette Hays attended the event, as did several faculty and staff members that are part of the team mentoring program.

Regis College is one of 439 Division III members of the NCAA, and the Pride compete in 20 intercollegiate sports within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The student-athletes invited to the Academic Excellence Ceremony are listed below.
