More Academic Honors for Regis Athletics from National Organizations

WESTON, Mass. – Two more Regis College athletic programs have been recognized by their respective coaching organizations for academic performance, as the women's basketball and women's track and field teams received accolades.

The women's basketball team is one of 103 Division III programs to receive Special Mention as part of the announcement of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for 2021-22. This is the first year in which all teams which qualified for consideration within the top 25 rankings by having a minimum grade point average of 3.0 are also recognized for their academic accomplishment.

"We are also pleased this year to recognize all teams that achieved the minimum 3.0 combined GPA required for nomination," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "That alone is no small feat considering the rigors of playing college athletics."

Under head coach Samantha Crough, the Pride combined for a grade point average of 3.360 and boasted five players as part of the 2021-22 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Academic Team. Regis College is one of three GNAC programs to earn Special Mention honors along with conference champion Emmanuel College and Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

The women's track and field team, led by head coach Ben Colello, was named an All-Academic Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Pride combined for a cumulative grade point average of 3.31, above the 3.1 minimum GPA needed to be eligible for the award.

In total, 214 Division III women's track and field programs received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognition, including three GNAC core members: Colby-Sawyer College, Regis College, and Saint Joseph's College of Maine. The Regis women's track and field team placed 23 student-athletes on the 2021-22 GNAC All-Academic Team, leading all Pride programs.

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports within NCAA Division III as part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
