Anselmo & Krahl Pick Up NECC Weekly Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and two Regis (Mass.) student-athletes received honors. Freshman Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) of the women's lacrosse team swept both the NECC Player and Rookie of the Week Awards, while junior Brett Krahl (Santa Clarita, Calif.) of the men's volleyball team received the title of NECC Player of the Week.

Anselmo had a career day on Saturday, as the Pride remained unbeaten with a 10-6 victory over Salem State. The freshman tallied six goals in the win to not only defend her Rookie of the Week crown, but secure the Player of the Week award as well. She also added one groundball and one draw control, while landing all seven of her shots on goal. Through just four games this season, Anselmo leads the Pride in goals with 11, and assists with six.

In the men's volleyball team's lone match of the week, Krahl led the Pride to a sweep over Southern Vermont on Friday night. The junior had a season-high 14 kills while hitting at a .706 clip. The middle blocker also added three service aces and a block in the match to help Regis maintain a share of the top spot in the NECC at 5-0 in conference play.

Both teams return to action for this week, starting when the women's lacrosse team travels to Emmanuel on Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference matchup. The men's volleyball team will go head-to-head with Endicott at home on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. with first place in the conference on the line.
