Women’s Cross Country Competes at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Among one of the largest fields it will compete within this season, the Regis College women's cross country team finished in 31st place Saturday at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, held on the Robert Dowd Course on campus.

Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Pride, posting a time of 19:56.49 to finish in 60th place. Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) was next for Regis, crossing the finish line in 90th place with a time of 20:20.51.

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) ended up with a time of 21:36.74, followed by her sister Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) in 22:39.48. Joelle Bockus (Windham, Maine) completed the course in 25:28.01, just ahead of teammate Lizzy Melvin (Southington, Conn.), who finished her first race of the year in 25:59.45.

As a team, Regis finished in 31st place with 787 points, ahead of Western New England as well as the host Corsairs. Led by individual race winner Emily Bryson in 17:54.59, over 20 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor, Brandeis won the team title with 56 points, well ahead of second place Trinity and third place Merrimack.

Regis returns to action next week, traveling to Wenham, Mass., for the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College next Saturday, Sept. 22.
