Katryna Veasey Caps Volleyball Career with All-GNAC Recognition

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.) concluded her collegiate volleyball career with her name throughout the Regis record book, adding Third Team All-GNAC recognition to her honor roll as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference volleyball coaches completed their voting for the league's postseason awards.

Veasey becomes a four-time All-Conference honoree, starting with New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year and First Team All-NECC awards in 2016. After Regis moved to the GNAC, Veasey received Third Team All-GNAC honors in 2017 and Second Team All-GNAC recognition in 2018.

Appearing in 29 matches this past season, Veasey led the team with 315 kills, second-most in a single season in program history behind only her total of 346 kills last year. She also finished second on the squad with 307 digs as she notched 16 double-doubles during the year, including seven double-doubles in her last nine matches.

Veasey leaves the Regis volleyball program as the leader in career kills (1,174), single season kills (346 in 2018), career kills per set (2.92), and single season kills per set (3.36 in 2018). She is also second in career digs (1,039), third in career service aces (176), tied for third in career sets played (402), tied for fourth in career matches (115), ninth in career attack percentage (.176), and 10th in career total blocks (147).

Freshman Caiti Pope (Falmouth, Mass.) is Regis' representative on the GNAC Women's Volleyball All-Sportsmanship Team. Pope appeared in eight matches during the season, collecting an assist, a service ace, and three digs against Fisher Oct. 1. She also earned three digs against Fitchburg State Oct. 12 and picked up two digs in the Pride's match at GNAC champion Johnson & Wales Oct. 31.

"Caiti showed up every day with a positive attitude, whether it be for practices or for games, and has a true passion for the game of volleyball. She is the epitome of a supportive teammate and is the type of player that every coach loves to have on their team," head coach Marc Turiano said.

For the third straight season, Regis earned 12 victories, capping the 2019 season with wins over Anna Maria and Salve Regina. Within the GNAC, the Pride posted a 5-7 record, finishing in a tie for seventh place in the regular season standings, but missing out on a berth into the league tournament due to tiebreakers.
