More Pride Athletes Qualify for New England Championships as School Record Falls

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Regis College women's track and field program saw another member of the team qualify for New England Regionals and another school record fall Saturday afternoon at the Bowdoin Regional IV.

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) built upon her impressive performance from last weekend and posted another new personal record, qualifying for the New England Regional Championships with a time of 3:10. 53 in the women's 1000 meter run.

Liz Ksepka (Calais, Vt.) would also improve on her impressive stretch in the past few weeks breaking her own record again in the weight throw, putting up a distance of 15.20 meters in the event.  Elliana Boebel (Bedford, Mass.) and Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) would finish in fifth and sixth respectively with distances of 11.64 meters and 11.29 meters.

Ksepka, Boebel, and Cooke would all put performances that would place them in the top 10 of the weight throw.  Ksepka would finish in third with a throw of 11.61 meters that would once again beat the qualifying distance in the event.  Boebel would place fifth with a time of 10.50 meters and Cooke would throw a distance of 9.83 meters. 

In the 60 meter dash, Cassandra Froio (Tewksbury, Mass.) would place ninth in the 60 meter dash out of a 30 person field with a time of 8.55 seconds. Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) would place 10th in the event closely after finishing in 8.60 seconds, breaking her personal record.

Fagundo would also break her personal record in the 200 meter with a time of 28.71 seconds.  Erin Sheehan (Pembroke, Mass.) ran a time of 1:05.83 and Hannah Plamondon (Woonsocket, R.I.) running a time of 1:13.24 would see their personal records in the 400 meter dash broken.

Members of the Pride will appear at the Division III New England Championships next weekend in Brunswick, Maine when they take try to qualfy for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
