WESTON, Mass. - Four members of the Regis (Mass.) men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams have qualified for Saturday’s NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships, and are getting in their final reps before the meet.

Sophomore Matthew Malone (West Roxbury, Mass.) will be the lone representative from the men’s team, as he will compete in the 60-meter hurdles. Malone qualified for the New England Regional with a time of 8.75 seconds in the event at last month’s Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational at Brandeis University.

Sophomore Keegan Duguay (Watertown, Mass.) will represent the Pride in the same event on the women’s side, after she qualified with a time of 9.67 seconds at last weekend’s Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT.

Both hurdlers are returning to the New England Championships for the second consecutive year.

Two Pride throwers will compete over the weekend as well, as junior Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) and freshman ChiChi Akanegbu (North Easton, Mass.) will both take part in the shot put. Cowden and Akanegbu both qualified for the championship at the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational, with distances of 11.19 and 11.08 meters, respectively.

Cowden is making her first appearance in the New England Indoor Championships, but qualified in the shot put outdoors last spring. Akanegbu is the first freshman thrower in program history to qualify for the New England Indoor Championships.
