REGIS CONTINUES IMPROVEMENT AT HARVARD

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis Track and Field Team traveled to Harvard on Saturday for its final meet before the New Year.

The highlight of the meet for the Pride was delivered by Mike Barsomian (Mansfield, Mass.), who in only his second competition ever, increased his shot-put personal best by over a full meter from 9.00m to 10.14m. His mentor on the team, Paul Gionfriddo (Burlington, Conn.), also managed to pull out personal best improving upon his existing school record with a throw of 12.80.

The distance crew was highlighted by Sarah Schow (Northborough, Mass.), who ran an encouraging early season 3000 meter time of 12:44.88. Jonathan Paul (Medford, Mass.) led the team in the men's version of the event by averaging 5:44 per mile pace and clocking in with a time of 10:41.97.

Finally, the sprints team built upon their performances from a week earlier. Chandler Davies (Hartford, Conn.) ran the 200m in 23.91, Carlos Romer (Boston, Mass.) covered 300m in 39.96, and Joe Greco (Oxford, Conn.) sprinted the 400m in 53.70. Sprinter Ray Grasso (Orange, Mass.) showed his range by competing in the triple jump where he bested half of his competitors with a jump of 12.50m.

The team will continue to train hard over Christmas break and hopes to return and achieve more personal bests and high level performances at the Tufts Invitational on January 12th.
